Trip Start

Our adventure begins at 9am on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the Ya'ax Boutique Hotel in Mérida, Mexico. It's each guest's responsibility to meet at the trip's starting point on time.

Arrival Airport

The best airport to fly into is Mérida International Airport (MID). There are direct flights to MID from Mexico City (2hr), Houston IAH (2hr) and Miami (2hr 30min).

We recommend arriving at least one full day prior to the start of your trip in the case of unforeseen circumstances or travel delays. For recommendations on where to stay the night before, see the following Pre-Arrival Accommodations section.

Transfer from Airport

Mérida's MID airport is a 20-minute drive from the hotel. We recommend booking a taxi through our hotel, Ya'ax Boutique Hotel, no more than 30 days ahead of your arrival. Contact the Ya'ax directly via email at reservaciones@yaaxmerida.com to arrange.

Alternatively, you can organize your own taxi upon arrival at MID airport at the ‘Transportes’ desk located after baggage claim. Car-share services such as Uber are also available for less than US$10 from MID airport to our hotel.

Pre-Arrival Accommodations

We stay in small boutique hotels on this trip—rooms go fast and daily rates change frequently. If you plan to arrive in Mérida prior to the beginning of our journey, we recommend staying at our hotel, the Ya'ax Boutique Hotel (see Trip Overview). Please contact the hotel directly to book. Let them know you will be on a trip with Modern Adventure, and would like to extend your stay prior to the trip start. We will try to ensure you stay in the same room from start to finish—however, please note that this is not always an option and rooms are subject to change.

If Ya'ax Boutique Hotel is booked for the days preceding our trip, we also recommend the Diplomat Boutique Hotel or the Rosas y Xocolate, two central boutique hotels with modern amenities.

Trip End

Our trip ends—after six days of unforgettable culinary and cultural exploration—at our hacienda in Temozón on Thursday, September 8, 2022.

Departure Airport

The closest airport is Mérida International Airport (MID), about a one-hour drive from the hacienda, and the same airport you arrived at.

Transfer to Airport

After breakfast on our last day, Modern Adventure will provide a complimentary transfer to Mérida's MID airport. If you would like to join this transfer, your flight home should depart from MID at 1pm or later.

Please note: If you book a flight that leaves earlier than 1pm, or if you are planning on extending your time in Yucatán, it is your responsibility to arrange alternative transportation from our hacienda to your onward destination. If you are departing on the last day but earlier or later than the transfer, you will need to let your trip leader know on Day 1 of your trip to arrange your taxi. If your plans are to extend the hotel can arrange transport for you.

Please note that because taxis are hard to come by in rural Temozón, we recommend joining the Modern Adventure group transfer to the MID airport if at all possible.

Post-Trip Accommodations

We hope you have the opportunity to extend your stay in the Yucatán. If so, we recommend staying at Ya'ax Boutique Hotel or the Hacienda Temozón (see Trip Overview). Please note that any post-trip accommodation is your responsibility to book. Make reservations directly by contacting the hotels directly.
